Gifts and Gift Wrapping

December 1st. Time to begin preparing for the holiday season.

I hate to spend money on wrapping paper and it's wasteful anyways. Other options are:
* magazines
* maps
* newspaper
* brown paper bags from the store
and anything else you can find.

My aunt saves decorative bags every year, so any presents I haven't wrapped I just borrow one of those. Then you can just reuse them next year.

Buying ribbon can also be expensive. Instead of Ribbon you can use:
* yarn - use different colors to make interesting designs
* twine
* fabric
* rope
* rubber bands

This year I had a lot of ideas for presents but every family has some people that are hard to shop for. Like teenage boys. What do you get a teenage boy for the holidays? Probably gift cards.

This year, I made everyone in my family t-shirts. I took a bunch of different colored shirts and I painted them with fabric paint. I made stencils out of cardboard of trees, animals, people's names, ect and then painted them onto the shirts.

I made crochet scarfs also. They're easy to make and you can do them in a variety of colors. Tutorial Here.

P!ATD

It's not really art related... well... not visual art...

I LOVE Panic! At The Disco. Officially my new favirote group. I love their album Vices and Virtues, especially Hurricane.

Project Runway Season Finale Part 1!

ALL FOUR ARE GOING ON TO FASHION WEEK! WOOH!

I loved Kimberly's looks, even if the judges didn't like her styling. The sweat-pants and top are adorable, and the evening gown is amazing- sexy and modest. The bubble but skirt wasn't my favorite, but I love the cut in the front.

I loved Viktor's outfits! The jacket is amazing and the dress under it is great too! The dress with the leather skirt is cute, but I'd just put the skirt with a plain top. And you can't go wrong with a shirt covered in mirrors.

Anya didn't have a very good judging. She's staying because the judges like her though!

Joshua has definitely been editing! I love the pink pants and the front of the gown thingy, but in back it looks like a cat-woman suite.

Can't wait till fashion week!

Project Runway!

I recently started watching Project Runway. It's my new addiction. :)

The Final Challenge!

This week, Anya's outfits were my favorite.

I didn't really like any of Laura's, and she was eliminated.

I liked Kimberly's dress (right) but the coat (left) looks like "a foreign exchange student."

Joshua, Kimberly, Viktor and Anya are going to fashionweek!

Reversible Totebag

I made a reversible tote bag the other day but haven't taken pictures yet. I just found this pic on the internet. I'll make another for the tutorial later but for now...

I just cut a 13.5 x 14 in piece of fabric - two of each fabric. And two 2 x 30 inch pieces of fabric - I made on in each fabric. You can change the length for shorter or longer straps.

Then I took the first fabric and sewed them together with a 1/2 inch seam allowance around three sides. I did the same with the other.

I serged the seams because I like to be sure it won't come undone. If you don't have a serger just zig-zag stich around the edges. T

Then turn one piece inside out and place the other inside so the patterned sides face each other. I messed up the first time so when I pulled them apart they were inside out. Oopsies!

Next sew the strap sides together with the patterns facing in and then turn inside out. Then sew them on the bag.

And tada! You're finished.
